Ranking the BEST dishes at Din Tai Fung UK

Din Tai Fung is our go-to dumpling spot in London. We have been going systematically ever since they first opened in Covent Garden (we actually queued on their opening day for 2h+ #noshame) and also have tried their Selfridge’s location, where they have robot waiters.

So with the above credentials, we wanted to make a list of our TOP dishes at DTF UK.

  1. Any green with ginger

We know, we know. But everyone needs a bit of health in their life, and the veggies at DTF are always super crunchy, just how we like them.

  1. Noodles with Pork Chop

Love the noodles texture and topping it with the pork chop just takes it up a notch. The sauce at the bottom of the noodles is bomb.

  1. Crispy Pork and Prawn wonton

Simple fried deliciousness!

  1. Chili Crab XLB

Starting with the dish DTF is famous for the Xiao Long Bao. These ones filled with chili crab and pork have the perfect amount of heat, really nice if you are a lover of chili crab.

  1. Chicken XLB

Another Soup Dumpling that is a favourite of us is the chicken XLB, this is one of the few dishes that doesn’t contain pork at DTF, so if you are not a fan of pork, I wouldn’t recommend going here. This chicken filled dumpling has a more subtle flavour as it is filled with chicken, but it is equally juicy!

  1. Pork and Prawn wonton in superior broth

The strength of this dish is all in the broth, very fragrant. The wontons are more on the bland side though.

  1. Drunken chicken

From the appetizer section this has to be our TOP choice. The sauce that this cold chicken dish comes with is just another level. The only problem is that the portion is too small so we always have to order seconds.

  1. Pork XLB

The OG of the XLB has to be the best soup dumplings on the list. Classic XLB made to perfection. Plus, it is one of the prettiest XLB we have ever seen with the perfect 18 folds.

  1. Salted Egg Yolk Lava Bun

Can’t leave DTF without trying these custardy buns. The salted egg yolk is exceptional… we could eat one of this everyday.

  1. Pork and Prawn wonton in chili oil

Choosing between these wontons and the custard bun has been one of the most difficult things we’ve had to do this 2022. But these spicy wontons are the star of the menu!
